SO WHO'S BEHIND NEW HOME INSPECTIONS?
My name is Kevin McDonald and I'm the Director of New Home Inspections. I've been working in the residential building industry for over 30 years. Starting as an apprentice Carpenter and Joiner back in 1979. Since then I've worked full time on housing either as a sub-contractor or for many of those years running my own Building firm. I am a past member of the Master Builders Association, a present member of the HIA and was a Registered Building Practitioner for over 15 years.
The years I spent running my own building business has given me a full understanding of the many difficulties that builders face in supervising their sub-contractors and maintaining quality. So I know exactly what to look for and where to look for it.
As an Expert Witness I've provided evidence in a number of matters against some of Melbourne's major builders, both before the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) and the Building Commission's Building Dispute Board, that have resulted in my clients successfully having their defective works totally reconstructed or gaining substantial monetary compensation.
